The BLOG Users Ring
ABOUT THE RING:
The BLOG Users Ring exists to create a community of bloggers who use the BLOG software. BLOG is a freeware application created and maintained by Fahim Farook, and is available for download at The Developers Corner.
The BLOG Users Ring was originally conceived and managed by the Gotts, who have their own blog, The G-Spot. On January 21st, I was rather dismayed to get an e-mail from them that they were closing the ring because they didn't have time to manage it anymore. After swapping a couple of e-mails, the ring reopened January 23rd. (Yay!)
By continuing the BLOG users ring, I am hoping to not only keep current users of BLOG in touch with each other, but to also 'convert' users of other journaling software to BLOG. It's such a great program! I'll be posting a number of things here at the homepage - resources for people to build their own templates, links to the BLOG software and support forums, and anything else that seems useful to BLOGgers. Any suggestions are welcome!
If you would like to join the BLOG Users Ring, please see the membership guidelines, and then submit your request to be added to the ring through the signup page.
Above all, have a great time on the web!
MEMBERSHIP GUIDELINES:
The BLOG Users Ring is open to all web sites using the BLOG software developed and provided by Fahim Farook. This software is free, and is available for download at The Developers Corner (farook.org). (Check the right-hand sidebar at the DC for current information and the latest version.)
The BLOG Users ring code and graphic must be displayed somewhere on the page where your current blog entries are shown. If your site is frames-based, the ring code and graphic must reside in your main frame as well. Some customization of the graphic is permitted; you can create your own "blogsticker" here, with the following caveats: Use rounded corners, and the Lucida Font style.
The RingSurf system for checking the presence of the ring code is automated. The ring code must reside as HTML code on your pages; it cannot be placed in an external "called" file. If the system does not find the code, your pending membership will be placed in a queue for seven days. If the ring code is not detected within that seven day period, your application will be deleted and you will need to reapply.
The presence of the ring code and graphic on member sites is checked periodically. If you change your templates, be sure to insert the ring code; otherwise the system implements a temporary suspension of membership for seven days, as for new member applications. If the ring code and graphic are not detected within that seven day period, your membership will be discontinued and you will need to reapply.
If your blog has not had a new entry in 3 months, your membership will be suspended until a new post is made. What this means is that your RingID will be deactivated, taking you out of the active ring. Just drop me a line and I'll reactivate your ID. If no new posts are made within 6 months, your membership will be terminated and you will need to reapply.
Ring Members must provide a valid email address to the ring manager. If you do not want to post your email address in your membership profile, that's fine; but you must provide a VALID email address to the ring manager. The ring manager uses this address only for ring maintenance and member notifications. The address will not under any circumstances be provided to any third party, not even other ring members. Email sent by the ring manager to a member that is bounced back as undeliverable will result in a temporary 7-day suspension of membership.
Ring members are encouraged (but not required) to cruise the ring and visit their fellow members' sites, and get acquainted through their blogs.
Have fun - that's an order!
